International Student Pathways

Pathways International Students to GCSE’s/ A’levels:

IGCSE
Intensive 1 year GCSE. Some schools offer a 1 Year GCSE programme in Year 11 for international students. These intensive, one year courses, are available for students aged 15 plus, with the appropriate academic level from their own country. Students study between 5 and 7 subjects, English, Maths and Science being included. IGCSE prepare international students for A-Level and/or IB.
University preparation are years 12 and 13 (Further Education courses)

The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme:
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an internationally recognised qualification aimed at 16 to 19 year olds and is a two year global academic programme. It is administered by the International Bacclaurate and taught in schools in over 140 countries. It is taught in one of three languages: English, French, or Spanish and regarded as a good alternative to A levels, and allowing entry to university.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme is s an academically challenging programme with final examinations that prepare students for university and working life. You choose one subject from each of five groups – including two languages, social sciences, experimental sciences, and mathematics. You also choose either an arts subject from a sixth group, or another subject from groups one to five.

The IB diploma programme encourages a “global outlook” in students, while in contrast A levels give students more “in-depth” expertise.

In the UK the A’ level path is the standard course followed as the A-level is still the benchmark against which most universities set their entry requirements for courses. If you're a UK student making decisions about which university is right for you, then A-level results are everything. International Foundation Program. Aimed at international students which can access these courses from age 16 +.

International Foundation Programme
The International Foundation Year is a university preparation course. It is designed to improve your English language and academic study skills before you begin the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree.
Many Colleges and Universities offer this programme to bridge the gap in English skills and preparing for University courses. It is accepted by many universities worldwide. It can be taught by the University you wish to study at and is equivalent to a levels. IELTS level usually above 4.5. are required to access this course.
